Exclusive Tour Package: Sukamade Turtle Adventure & Green Bay (2D1N)

Experience the hidden gems of Southern Banyuwangi. From the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Green Bay to the magical moment of witnessing giant sea turtles nesting in their natural habitat at Meru Betiri National Park.

Itinerary

Day 01: Exploring Green Bay & Meru Betiri Off-Road Adventure

09:00 – 09:30 AM: Pick-up from your hotel, train station, or any location within the Banyuwangi city area. Depart for the southern coast in a comfortable private vehicle.

11:00 – 11:30 AM: Arrival at the Green Bay gateway. Choose between a light jungle trek or a traditional boat ride (optional) to reach the secluded beach.

11:30 – 01:00 PM: Free time at Green Bay (Teluk Hijau). Enjoy the white sand and pristine turquoise water. This is the perfect time for photography and videography.

01:00 – 01:30 PM: Break and enjoy an authentic local lunch.

01:30 – 04:00 PM: Meru Betiri Off-Road Adventure. Board a 4WD Jeep to penetrate the lush tropical rainforest. We will cross the Sarongan River and navigate rugged terrain while enjoying the raw beauty of the wilderness.

04:00 – 04:30 PM: Arrival at the Sukamade area. Check-in at the Homestay/Guest House and take a short rest.

07:00 – 07:30 PM: Dinner at the Sukamade lodge.

07:30 – 11:00 PM: Night Turtle Observation. Led by an experienced Ranger, you will walk to the beach to witness a rare natural phenomenon: giant Green Turtles (over 1 meter in size) coming ashore to lay their eggs in the silence of the night.

11:00 PM: Return to the homestay for a well-deserved rest.

Day 02: Hatchling Release & Return Journey

05:00 – 06:30 AM: Head to Sukamade Beach for the Baby Turtle Release (Hatchlings). Participate in this vital conservation effort as you watch the tiny turtles make their first journey to the ocean.

07:00 – 08:00 AM: Breakfast and preparation for departure.

08:00 – 12:00 PM: Check-out from the homestay. Depart Sukamade and head back to Banyuwangi city. Tour ends.

Great park, the rangers who welcome you are very attentive. More than sufficient comfort, the walk from the park entrance is only 10km. No need for super expensive tours, excursion can be done independently ;)
Incredible experience with wild turtles (advice: go to the beach before 5 a.m., you will be there alone and the chance of coming across a turtle returning to the sea after laying eggs is great... But don't touch the turtles!!) toucans, monkeys, and other natural wonders. River of cold and crystal clear water halfway... In short, everything we love :)

Unique experience to see the turtle lay eggs in the dark on the beach and release the baby turtles the next morning. Simple accommodation on the plantation. In the village you go back in time and that is also very nice. Huge bumpy road to get there so that is intensive.

Definitely a big program which worth the price and the time investment.
That said it is not for everyone as the accommodation is bare minimal and basic. And that is what you have to consider if you are fine with it. The other part is luck: not always will you be lucky to see the turtles laying eggs. Most of the time you do, but there can be occasions where you won't and it could be tough.
The rest is amazing! Great guides, stories, the village and the people in it are lovely and open in general. Take a walk there and if you have the time visit the rubber and coffee factory as well.
The turtles were of course the main show and both events with them was phenomenal! The egg-watch and the baby turtle release both are experiences worth alone the travel there.
At the end I was really tired but this was an amazing experience!

This is definately not the place if you're looking for comfort zone.
The journey itself will broke you physical and mentality.

But, behind the scene it was trully paradise!
All natural things surround you!
Jungle, beach, animals, flora, it was good!

Definately superb for who look some adventure instead just take a selfie and dance for content....

This trip was amazing!! Really impressive to see the turtles and learn more about them. Professional rangers, they really care for the turtles and are doing such an important job to save this incredible animal!

Best place to see the turtle laying eggs and join the hatchlings release. It is better to stay in the National Park area which is closer to the beach
